Abstract

Urban spaces, also in Turkeyas well as all over the world, have been qualitative and spatial quicklygrowing and evolving. Applications, especially in urban transformation inTurkey with social, environmental and economic reasons, have revealed the inevitabilityof change in urban spaces. As a result of that population growth andurbanization in the cities are increasing more than in the rural population andthe cities grew and expanded urban walls. It has been distorted built-up areasin urban centers. Due to the bad-looking and unskilled poor quality oflandscape areas, structure within the city has emerged as the more obvious. Inthis study, the city of Trabzon in the case of the remaining natural orsemi-natural landmarks around or close by examining a sample of landscapeevaluation method are discussed. In this paper, a natural landmark case of Boztepe in the city of Trabzon, different patterns of design strategies including visibility and silhouetteanalysis were studied depending on accessible and visually relations with thecity area. Providing input into design parameters, such as topography, vegetation density, the light changes, how they affect the quality of thenatural landmarks landscape has emerged as the different findings. Some scenariosfor space and design analysis can shed light on the evaluation of naturallandmarks in landscape. Techniques for urban transformation in Turkey in termsof the values of the landscape of the study are considered important applicationsand recommendations brought to it.
