Abstract


Design is a fact which has become important in producing new and creative solutions today, in which there is keen international competition. Design comprises theoretical relationships or the relationships between theory and application covering all kinds of creative problem solving and process in all areas. When we look at the recent design initiatives, theoretical approaches such as design culture, design management and design consciousness stand out.

While design, in the general sense, is the preparation of several plans and diagrams needed for an actual set-up, it is considered as a creative process in art. Although design is the feasibility of certain concepts and experiences in engineering sciences, it has adopted different approaches in architecture and art.

The aim of this study is to explain this complicated concept which seems difficult to classify and diagrammatize and to identify its place in architectural education addressing building design.  

In the study, the concept of design and its process was investigated; and building-scale design method and its theoretical approaches which are important for the problematic of architectural design was studied. The subject of ranging of goals in building design was evaluated in the architectural design extension in the context of contributing to the formation process of building-scale design.

The conclusion of the study is about demonstration of how easy is the change of seemingly complicated and painful process into a not that difficult process by using rational and theoretical methods.
