Schools as organizations culture features

Abstract


Nowadays organization that rings together professional co-operation, have high attention to the social aspects of their activities among  them important place takes organizations culture.

Educational concept of organizational culture and its way of introduction to the issue has recently given considerable attention. University, gymnasium is a culture of multidisciplinary researchers explored and analyzed, however studies on secondary school organizational culture and its features lost found. As stated by many authors systematic study of schools culture is relevant because can help them to detect the development of reserves. Also the study process of school culture may become a school  improvement tool.

The study object. School culture.

The study aim. To analyze the concept of school culture, to reveal school as organizational culture characteristics.

The study methods. The survey carried out by means of scientific analysis of information sources, descriptive statistics, questionnaire survey of teachers  and students based on A. Poškienė, L. Kudirkaitė, N. Damanskas questionnaire  for university of organizational culture research.

The study undertake. In the survey participated two groups of respondents: 160 – pupils (including 94 pupils from the secondary school and  66 from the gymnasiums); 54 teachers (including 32 working in the secondary schools and in the gymnasiums).

Study results. The study found, that secondary schools overall academics symbols have not enough. However the standpoint to school symbols possession for majority of school members – teachers and pupils – is benevolent. Study school tradition celebrating the continuity of organizational culture is partly dependent on. Emerged, that pupils and teachers on parity relations on secondary school and on gymnasium is realized in part. The results from schools common values based on the majority of recognized values of: general human values – equality, independence, tolerance, responsibility and school as organization studying and continuous improvement, mankind’s accumulated information and cultural presertvation.
